Sainsbury’s have announced today that they have banned the sale of fireworks this year from all 2300 stores due to fears for the welfare of pets and elderly.

It has been announced today that Sainsbury’s will not be selling fireworks this year in a bid to protect animals and more venerable elderly citizens.

Fireworks night has traditionally been extremely stressful on animals and this is a welcome move to protect pets in the UK. We support Sainsbury’s move wholeheartedly and hope that other supermarkets will follow their lead.

Sainsbury’s will continue to sell other seasonal items such as glowsticks and light-up wands, just nothing that will cause immediate distress to the early, pets or wildlife.
